Dadar Tahu Telur: Savory Indonesian Tofu and Egg Pancake
Ingredients:
- 1 block of firm tofu
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon ground red chili (or substitute with sliced red chili or bird’s eye chili)
- 1 stalk of green onion, finely sliced
- Salt, to taste
- Mushroom seasoning, to taste
- Cooking oil, for frying
Instructions:
-
Begin by crumbling the tofu with a fork until it’s in small, manageable pieces.
-
In a mixing bowl, combine the beaten eggs with the crumbled tofu, ground red chili (or your chosen chili alternative), sliced green onion, salt, and mushroom seasoning. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
-
Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a small amount of cooking oil, allowing it to coat the bottom of the pan.
-
Pour the tofu and egg mixture into the skillet, spreading it evenly. Cook until one side begins to set and turns a golden brown color.
-
Carefully flip the pancake and continue to cook until the other side is also golden and the pancake is fully cooked through.
-
Remove from the skillet and serve hot, cut into wedges or slices as desired.
Note: If ground red chili is unavailable, you can use sliced red chili or bird’s eye chili as a substitute for a similar spicy kick.
Enjoy this delightful Indonesian-inspired dish, perfect for a savory breakfast or a flavorful addition to any meal!
