Sweet and Sour Shrimp with Tofu

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams shrimp (cleaned)
  • 4 blocks of tofu
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 large garlic clove
  • 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • Sweet soy sauce (to taste)
  • Bouillon powder (to taste)
  • Water (as needed)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Begin by cleaning the shrimp and cutting the tofu into cubes. For added texture, coat the tofu with breadcrumbs and fry until crispy, then set aside to drain.

  2. Sauté Aromatics: In a pan, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until fragrant and golden brown.

  3. Cook Tofu and Shrimp: Add the crispy tofu and cleaned shrimp to the pan. Stir well, allowing them to heat through and absorb the flavors of the aromatics. Add a splash of water to help create a sauce.

  4. Add Sauces: Stir in the tomato ketchup, chili sauce, oyster sauce, and sweet soy sauce. Mix everything thoroughly, ensuring the tofu and shrimp are well-coated with the sauces.

  5. Season: Sprinkle in the bouillon powder to taste, stirring to combine. Adjust the seasoning as needed.

  6. Simmer: Let the mixture simmer for 1-2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken slightly.

  7. Serve: Turn off the heat, and transfer the dish to a serving plate. Enjoy your Sweet and Sour Shrimp with Tofu as a delicious and flavorful main course.
