Batagor Tahu with Sweet and Spicy Sauce
Ingredients:

For the Batagor: - 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon tapioca flour
- Salt, to taste
- Masako (or any bouillon powder), to taste
- 1/2 tablespoon margarine
- Firm tofu, cut into small cubes
 
- 
For the Sauce: - 2 tomatoes
- 1 large onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- Sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- Salt, to taste
- Sugar, to taste
- Masako (or any bouillon powder), to taste
 
Instructions:
- 
Prepare the Tofu: - Cut the tofu into small, bite-sized cubes. Set aside.
 
- 
Prepare the Batter: - In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, tapioca flour, salt, Masako, and margarine. Mix well.
- Gently coat the tofu cubes with the batter mixture.
 
- 
Fry the Tofu: - Heat oil in a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat.
- Fry the battered tofu cubes until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
 
- 
Make the Sauce: - Finely chop the onion. Set aside.
- In a blender, combine the tomatoes, garlic, and any additional chili if desired (for extra heat). Blend until smooth.
- In a skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until translucent and fragrant.
- Add the blended tomato mixture to the skillet. Cook for a few minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Season with salt, sugar, and Masako to taste. Add sweet soy sauce (kecap manis) according to your preference. Adjust the seasoning as needed.
 
- 
Serve: - Arrange the fried tofu cubes on a serving plate.
- Drizzle generously with the sweet and spicy sauce.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
