Tahu Fantasy Telur

Ingredients:

  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 4 shallots
  • Seasoning powder (Masako or equivalent)
  • Ground black pepper (to taste)
  • White noodles (e.g., rice noodles)
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 carrot
  • White tofu (optional, to taste)
  • All-purpose flour (optional, to taste)
  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Noodles: Begin by boiling the white noodles in water until they are soft. Drain and set aside.

  2. Prepare the Aromatics: Peel the shallots, garlic, and carrot. Use a mortar and pestle to finely grind the shallots and garlic together. Season with ground black pepper to taste.

  3. Combine Ingredients: Transfer the ground shallots and garlic into a large mixing bowl. Add the white tofu (if using), grated carrot, a suitable amount of all-purpose flour (if desired), cooked white noodles, and 3 of the eggs into the bowl. Mix everything together thoroughly until well combined. Season with seasoning powder and salt to taste.

  4. Steam the Mixture: Once the mixture is well combined and smooth, place it into a plastic wrap or a suitable steaming container. Ensure the mixture is not too thick. Steam for 20-30 minutes, or until the mixture has set and firmed up.

  5. Cool and Slice: After steaming, remove from the heat and let the mixture cool in cold water. Once cooled, cut into desired shapes.

  6. Prepare for Frying: Heat oil in a frying pan. Dip the tofu slices into the beaten egg, coating them thoroughly.

  7. Fry the Tofu: Fry the egg-coated tofu pieces in the hot oil until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
