Crispy Tofu Fritters with Garlic and Green Onions

Perkedel Tahu Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 blocks of medium-sized tofu
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour (optional)
  • 2 stalks green onions
  • Salt to taste
  • Royco seasoning to taste
  • A pinch of coriander seeds
  • 1 clove garlic
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tofu:

    • Begin by mashing the tofu until it is completely smooth. For this, you can use a mortar and pestle or any mashing tool of your choice.
  2. Make the Spice Mixture:

    • Finely crush the garlic clove, coriander seeds, and a pinch of salt until you achieve a smooth paste.
  3. Combine Ingredients:

    • In a mixing bowl, beat the egg and add it to the mashed tofu. Incorporate the crushed spice mixture and all-purpose flour (if using). Mix everything until well combined.
  4. Season the Mixture:

    • Chop the green onions and add them to the tofu mixture. Season with Royco seasoning and salt to taste. Stir well to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  5. Fry the Perkedel:

    • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Using a spoon, scoop out small portions of the mixture and shape them into patties. Carefully place the patties into the hot oil.
  6. Cook Until Golden:

    • Fry the patties until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides. This should take about 2-3 minutes per side. Once cooked, remove the patties from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  7. Serve and Enjoy:
