Fuyunghai Tahu Sederhana (Simple Tofu Fuyung Hai)

Ingredients

Eggs 3 (beaten)
All-purpose seasoning flour 3 tablespoons
Cornstarch 1 tablespoon
Tomato 1 (chopped)
Bird’s eye chilies 5 (optional for spice)
Garlic 1 clove (crushed)
Onion (shallots) 1 (sliced)
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Oyster sauce (Saori brand) 3 tablespoons
Cabbage to taste (coarsely chopped)
Carrot 1 (julienned)
Green beans to taste (cut into pieces)
Green onion 1 stalk (sliced)
Bouillon powder 1/2 teaspoon
Sugar 1 teaspoon
Water as needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mixture: In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and then add the mashed tofu, chopped cabbage, and sliced green onion. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Gradually incorporate the all-purpose seasoning flour and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch until well combined.

  2. Fry the Fuyung Hai: Heat oil in a pan until hot. Spoon the mixture into the oil, ensuring it is submerged, creating a thick, fritter-like consistency. Fry until golden brown on both sides, then remove and drain on paper towels.

  3. Make the Sauce: In another pan, heat a little oil and sauté the sliced onion and crushed garlic until fragrant and soft. Add the sliced bird’s eye chilies (if using) and sauté briefly.

  4. Combine Ingredients: Add the julienned carrot, green beans, chopped tomato, water, bouillon powder, sugar, and oyster sauce. Stir well and bring to a boil.

  5. Thicken the Sauce: Mix the remaining cornstarch with a small amount of water to create a slurry. Add this to the boiling mixture to thicken. Let it simmer for a few minutes until the sauce is glossy and well combined.

  6. Serve: Pour the sauce over the fried fuyung hai and enjoy your delightful dish!
