Martabak Tahu ala Those

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Spring roll wrappers 10 sheets
Firm tofu 5 blocks, cleaned
Green onions 2 stalks, chopped
Salt or Royco seasoning To taste
Egg 1, beaten
Cooking oil As needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: Start by mashing the tofu gently; aim for a coarse texture rather than a smooth paste. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed tofu with the chopped green onions. Add the beaten egg and season with salt or Royco seasoning, mixing until everything is well combined.

  2. Assemble the Martabak: Take one sheet of spring roll wrapper and place about two tablespoons of the tofu mixture in the center. Fold the wrapper into a square shape, ensuring the filling is sealed inside. Repeat this process until all wrappers and filling are used. For later use, these can be stored in a covered container and frozen if not frying immediately.

  3. Fry the Martabak: Heat cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the filled martabaks into the oil. Fry until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

  4. Serve: Enjoy the martabak warm, paired with fresh green chili or a dip of sambal kecap, depending on your preference. For a delightful meal, they also go wonderfully with steamed white rice!

This flavorful take on Martabak Tahu is sure to be a hit, combining crispy textures with a savory filling, perfect for any occasion!
