Quantity Ingredient
1.5 blocks Firm tofu (cut into large cubes)
1 medium Carrot (julienned)
Ground Spices
4 cloves Garlic
2 Green bird’s eye chilies (optional)
Seasoning
5 tbsp Sweet soy sauce
1 tbsp Oyster sauce (or 1 tbsp black pepper sauce)
8 Small green chilies (sliced)
½ block Chicken bouillon (or ½ tsp non-MSG bouillon powder)
1 tbsp Granulated sugar (or ½ tbsp)
½ tsp Ground black pepper
1 tbsp Cornstarch (dissolved in a little water)
To taste Salt
As needed Water

Instructions

  1. Begin by boiling the tofu with 1 tsp of salt to eliminate any sourness, then cut it into large cubes.
  2. Heat a generous amount of oil in a pan and fry the tofu until it develops a crispy skin. Once cooked, remove and drain on paper towels, setting aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté the ground spices in a little oil, then add the julienned carrot. Cook until the carrot is half tender, stirring occasionally. If the mixture becomes too sticky, add a splash of water.
  4. Pour in all the seasoning ingredients and stir to combine well.
  5. Add the dissolved cornstarch, mixing until the sauce thickens. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  6. Gently fold in the fried tofu and stir until everything is evenly coated and heated through.
  7. Remove from heat and serve hot. Enjoy this simple yet delicious dish!

This Tahu Dangdut Medan is perfect for a quick family meal, bursting with flavor and comfort!
