Ingredients:
- 10 pieces of firm tofu
- 2 eggs (for the mixture)

- 1 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
- 100 grams of corn vermicelli (mbihun jagung)
- Seasoning (to taste)
- Salt (to taste)
- Cooking oil (for frying)
- Banana leaves (for steaming)
- 3 carrots
- 2 stalks of green onions
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Ingredients:
- Mash the tofu until smooth.
- Slice the carrots into thin rounds.
- Chop the green onions into small pieces.
- Boil the corn vermicelli according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
-
Make the Mixture:
- Grind the garlic and black peppercorns together until finely ground.
- In a large bowl, combine the mashed tofu with the ground garlic and pepper mixture.
- Add the sliced carrots, chopped green onions, corn vermicelli, and the two beaten eggs. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Season with salt and any additional seasoning to taste. Mix again and set aside.
-
Prepare the Rolades:
- Prepare the banana leaves by cleaning and cutting them into pieces large enough to wrap the tofu mixture.
- Place a portion of the tofu mixture onto a piece of banana leaf. Fold the sides of the leaf over the mixture and roll it tightly. Secure the ends with toothpicks or bamboo skewers.
- Continue this process until all the mixture is used. You should end up with about 5 rolls, depending on the size.
-
Steam the Rolades:
- Steam the wrapped rolls for about 20-30 minutes, or until the banana leaves have changed color and the tofu mixture is cooked through. Remove from the steamer and allow to cool.
-
Fry the Rolades:
- Once cooled, cut the rolls into bite-sized pieces.
- Dip each piece in the beaten egg and fry in hot oil until golden brown and crispy. This should take about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
-
Serve:
- Serve the crispy Tahu Rolade hot as a delicious appetizer or snack. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce or a side of fresh vegetables.
