Tahu Rambutan: A Crispy Indonesian Delight

Instant noodles (any soup type) 1 pack

  1. Prepare the Mixture: Begin by mashing the tofu in a mixing bowl. Add the ground pepper, salt, the seasoning from the instant noodles, and the egg. Mix well until all ingredients are fully combined.

  2. Prepare the Noodles: Cook the instant noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside to cool slightly.

  3. Shape the Tofu: Take a portion of the tofu mixture and shape it into a ball. Insert a piece of sausage into the center of each tofu ball. Roll each ball in the prepared noodles, coating them thoroughly.

  4. Chill Before Frying: Place the coated tofu balls on a plate and refrigerate for about 1 hour. This chilling step helps them hold their shape better during frying.

  5. Fry the Tofu Balls: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the tofu balls to the oil and fry until they are golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally for even cooking.

  6. Serve: Once cooked, remove the tofu rambutan from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm as a delicious appetizer or snack, garnished with chopped green onions if desired.
