Savory Tofu Balls with Sausage Filling

Ingredients:

  • 2 blocks of firm tofu
  • 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
  • 1 beef sausage
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Chicken bouillon powder, to taste
  • Bread crumbs, for coating

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tofu Mixture: Start by thoroughly mashing the tofu until it reaches a smooth, crumbly consistency. Season with salt, black pepper, and chicken bouillon powder to taste. Mix in the finely chopped celery and beaten egg until well combined.

  2. Prepare the Sausage: Slice the beef sausage into small, round pieces.

  3. Form the Tofu Balls: Take a small portion of the tofu mixture and flatten it slightly in the palm of your hand. Place a piece of sausage in the center, then mold the tofu around the sausage to form a ball. Ensure the sausage is well encased in the tofu mixture. Roll the tofu balls in bread crumbs to coat them evenly.

  4. Fry the Tofu Balls: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Carefully add the tofu balls to the hot oil and fry them until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.

  5. Serve: Remove the tofu balls from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Serve hot with a side of spicy soy sauce (sambal kecap rawit) for an extra burst of flavor.
