Stir-Fried Tofu with White Bok Choy (Tumis Tahu Sawi Putih)

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
White bok choy (Sawi Putih) 1 head
Yellow tofu (Tahu Kuning) 6 pieces
Shallots 5 cloves
Garlic 3 cloves
Red curly chili (Cabai Merah Keriting) 5 pieces
Bird’s eye chili (Cabai Rawit) 3 pieces
Salt To taste
Sugar To taste
White pepper To taste
Saori oyster sauce To taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tofu:
    Cut the yellow tofu into bite-sized cubes. Heat oil in a pan and fry the tofu until golden brown and crispy on the outside. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  2. Sauté the Aromatics:
    In the same pan, leave a small amount of oil and add the shallots and garlic. Sauté until fragrant and slightly softened. Add the red curly chili and bird’s eye chili for a bit of heat. Continue sautéing until the chilies soften.

  3. Combine Ingredients:
    Return the fried tofu to the pan along with the chopped bok choy. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

  4. Season:
    Add salt, sugar, and white pepper to taste. Pour in a generous splash of Saori oyster sauce and mix thoroughly. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

  5. Cook Until Tender:
    Continue cooking until the bok choy is tender but still retains a slight crunch, and all the flavors have melded together.

  6. Serve:
    Transfer to a serving plate and enjoy your delicious stir-fried tofu with white bok choy as a side dish or a main vegetarian meal!
