Crispy Tahu Cabe (Crispy Tofu with Chilies)

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of yellow tofu (tahu kuning), cut into small cubes
  • 200 grams all-purpose flour
  • 4 curly chilies (or bird’s eye chilies for extra heat)
  • 2 stalks of green onions
  • 1 stalk of celery
  • 2 cloves of shallots
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • Salt, sugar, and seasoning to taste
  • Oil for frying and sautéing

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tofu:

    • Cut the tofu into small, bite-sized cubes. Dredge each piece in all-purpose flour, ensuring they are well-coated.
  2. Fry the Tofu:

    • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the floured tofu cubes until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove and set aside on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  3. Prepare the Aromatics:

    • In a separate pan, heat a small amount of oil. Sauté the sliced shallots and garlic until they become fragrant.
  4. Add Chilies and Tofu:

    • Slice the chilies and add them to the pan with the shallots and garlic. Stir-fry for a minute, then add the crispy tofu cubes. Toss gently to combine.
  5. Incorporate Vegetables and Seasonings:

    • Slice the green onions and celery, then add them to the pan. Stir everything together. Season with salt, sugar, and seasoning to taste, adding the seasonings gradually to avoid over-seasoning, as the tofu is already salty.
  6. Finish and Serve:

    • Once all ingredients are well-mixed and heated through, transfer to a serving dish.
  7. Enjoy:

    • Your Crispy Tahu Cabe is now ready to be enjoyed as a delightful snack or appetizer. Serve warm and savor the crispy texture and spicy kick!

This recipe brings together the crispy texture of tofu with a vibrant blend of spices and fresh vegetables, creating a delicious and flavorful dish perfect for any occasion.
