Ingredients

Ingredients Amount
Canned Tuna 1/2 can
Tapioca Flour (Sagu Tani) 9 tablespoons (3 tablespoons + 6 tablespoons)
Water 1/2 cup
Egg 1 large
Garlic 1 clove
Salt To taste
Oil For frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a small saucepan, combine 3 tablespoons of tapioca flour with 1/2 cup of water. Stir well until the mixture is completely dissolved.
    • Place the saucepan over medium heat and continue to stir the mixture until it thickens into a smooth porridge. This should take just a few minutes. Once done, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  2. Combine Ingredients:

    • Once the porridge is cool, add the minced garlic, 1 large egg, and 1/2 can of tuna to the mixture. Season with salt to taste. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
  3. Prepare for Frying:

    • In a frying pan, heat a generous amount of oil over medium-high heat.
    • On a flat plate, spread out the remaining 6 tablespoons of tapioca flour. This will be used to coat the Cireng.
  4. Shape the Cireng:

    • Take a tablespoon of the prepared tuna mixture and flatten it gently into a disc shape with your hands.
    • Roll the disc in the tapioca flour to coat both sides lightly.
  5. Fry the Cireng:

    • Carefully place the coated Cireng into the hot oil. To ensure they cook evenly, use a spoon to drizzle some hot oil over the tops of the cakes immediately after adding them to the pan.
    • Fry until they turn a beautiful golden brown, about 3-5 minutes on each side, then remove and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  6. Serving:

    • Repeat the frying process until all the mixture has been used. Serve your delicious Cireng Tuna hot, accompanied by a spicy sambal for dipping.

Enjoy!

These Cireng Tuna are not just a tasty snack but also a wonderful way to explore the rich culinary traditions of Indonesia. Warm and crispy, they are perfect for gatherings or as a delightful snack at any time of day. Happy cooking and enjoy your culinary journey with this delightful recipe!
