Instructions

  1. Cook the Potatoes:
Start by washing the potatoes and placing them in a pressure cooker. Cook for 5 whistles, then turn off the flame and let the pressure release naturally. Once done, open the cooker, drain excess water, and peel the potatoes. Mash them in a large bowl until smooth.

  2. Prepare the Vegetables for the Patty:
In a hot kadai (wok), add Nutralite Garlic & Oregano Spread and sauté the chopped carrots until they soften. Then, add the green peas and cook for a few more minutes. Once cooked, mash this mixture and combine it with the mashed potatoes.

  3. Season the Patty Mixture:
To the mashed potatoes and vegetables, add red chili powder, corn flour, finely chopped green chilies, salt, and lime juice. Mix everything thoroughly to form a cohesive mixture.

  4. Shape the Patties:
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball, then flatten it between your palms to form round patties resembling discs.

  5. Shallow Fry the Patties:
Heat a wide pan and add 1 tablespoon Nutralite Garlic & Oregano Spread. Coat each patty lightly with whole wheat breadcrumbs and shallow fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Repeat for all patties, adding more spread as needed.

  6. Toast the Burger Bases:
In the same pan, toast the burger buns’ bases. Spread some Nutralite Garlic & Oregano Spread on the cut sides of the buns and toast them until they turn crispy and light brown.

  7. Assemble the Open Burger:
Begin by spreading a generous layer of Nutralite Cheesy Garlic Mayo on each burger base. Add a leaf of iceberg lettuce and place the crispy vegetable patty on top. Pipe in a bit of English mustard sauce, then top with sliced tomatoes and onion rings. For the finishing touch, sprinkle a handful of Aloo Bhujia for crunch and flavor.

  8. Serve:
Serve your Open Burger with Vegetable Patty immediately, ideally alongside a refreshing drink or a side salad to complete the meal.

Serving Suggestions:

This Open Burger is delicious on its own but pairs wonderfully with a Pomegranate Mint Cocktail or a Grilled Pineapple and Chicken Salad for a well-rounded meal. Its burst of flavors and textures is sure to satisfy both the palate and the appetite. Perfect for a hearty lunch or dinner, this open-faced burger brings a modern twist to a classic favorite.

Tips:

  • Customizing the Patty:
Feel free to add more vegetables like corn, zucchini, or spinach to the patty mixture for added flavor and nutrition. You can also experiment with different spices to tailor the patty to your taste.

  • Gluten-Free Option:
If you’re gluten-sensitive, swap the whole wheat breadcrumbs for gluten-free breadcrumbs or crushed rice crackers.

  • Vegan Version:
To make this recipe vegan, use vegan mayo and mustard sauce and skip the Nutralite spread, using oil or vegan butter for shallow frying instead.

This Open Burger with Vegetable Patty is not only a treat for your taste buds but also an ideal way to enjoy a satisfying, healthy vegetarian meal. With the crispiness of the patty, the smoothness of the mayo, and the tang of the mustard, it promises to be a meal worth savoring!
