Chocolate Mousse Pie Recipe

Description:

This delightful Chocolate Mousse Pie recipe is a gift from my best friend, perfect for those times when you need a quick, delicious dessert that’s sure to impress your guests at any dinner party. I’ve made a few tweaks for convenience, opting for a store-bought pre-baked chocolate crust and a dollop of whipped cream with chocolate shavings on the side instead of using a pastry bag and tip. Trust me, it’s a time-saving hack that doesn’t compromise on taste. Let’s dive into this decadent delight!

Ingredients:

  • 21 chocolate wafer cookies
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 12 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup plus 2 3/4 cups chilled whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Instructions:

For the Crust:

  1. Preheat Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare Pan: Butter a 9-inch diameter springform pan with 2 3/4-inch-high sides.
  3. Crush Cookies: In a food processor, finely grind the chocolate wafer cookies.
  4. Mix with Butter: Add the unsalted butter to the processor and process until the mixture is evenly moistened.
  5. Press into Pan: Press the crumb mixture onto the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pan to form a thin crust.
  6. Bake: Bake the crust for about 5 minutes until set.
  7. Cool: Transfer the crust to a cooling rack and let it cool completely.

For the Mousse:

  1. Prepare Chocolate Mixture: In the same food processor, combine the chopped chocolate, vanilla extract, and salt.
  2. Heat Cream: In a heavy small saucepan, bring 1 cup of whipping cream to a boil.
  3. Blend: With the processor running, gradually pour the hot cream through the feed tube. Process until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Transfer and Cool: Transfer the chocolate mixture to a large bowl and let it cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally.
  5. Whip Cream: In another large bowl, beat 2 cups of whipping cream and sugar together until stiff peaks form.
  6. Fold in Chocolate: Gently fold the whipped cream into the cooled chocolate mixture until well combined.
  7. Assemble Pie: Pour the mousse into the prepared crust, spreading it evenly.
  8. Chill: Place the pie in the refrigerator and chill until set, approximately 6 hours or overnight.
  9. Final Touches: Just before serving, beat the remaining 3/4 cup of whipping cream in a medium bowl until firm peaks form. Transfer it to a pastry bag fitted with a medium star tip and pipe rosettes of cream around the edge of the pie.
  10. Garnish: Sprinkle chocolate shavings over the pie for a finishing touch.

Serving:

Slice and serve this luscious Chocolate Mousse Pie to your guests, and watch their faces light up with delight. It’s the perfect combination of creamy, chocolaty goodness that will leave everyone asking for seconds. Enjoy! 🍫🥧
