Indulge in the decadent delight of a Chocolate Charlotte – a luscious dessert that’s sure to impress your guests and satisfy your sweet cravings! 🍫✨ Perfect for any occasion, from casual weeknight dinners to festive celebrations like Christmas, Hanukkah, or Ramadan, this dessert combines the rich flavors of chocolate with the delicate texture of ladyfingers, creating a symphony of taste and texture in every bite.

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet unflavored gelatin
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 3 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/3 cup whipping cream
  • 8-10 ladyfingers, halved
  • 1 1/2 cups whipping cream
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Gelatin Mixture:

    • In a small saucepan, combine the unflavored gelatin and 1/4 cup of cold water. Allow it to stand for 5 minutes to soften.
    • Cook and stir the mixture over low heat until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Once dissolved, set it aside to cool slightly.
  2. Melt the Chocolate:

    • In a heavy, small saucepan, melt the chopped chocolate with 3 tablespoons of water over low heat. Stir continuously until the chocolate is smooth and completely melted.
    • Once melted, add the 1/3 cup of whipping cream to the chocolate mixture. Stir until well combined and smooth.
  3. Combine Chocolate and Gelatin:

    • Stir the gelatin mixture into the melted chocolate mixture until fully incorporated. Remove the mixture from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally.
  4. Prepare the Charlotte Base:

    • Line a souffle dish (1 1/2 qt) with plastic wrap, ensuring that it hangs over the edges for easy removal later.
    • Carefully arrange the halved ladyfingers upright along the sides of the dish, pressing gently to secure them in place. Set aside.
  5. Whip the Cream:

    • In a chilled large bowl, combine the remaining 1 1/2 cups of whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
    • Using chilled beaters on an electric mixer, beat the cream mixture on medium speed until stiff peaks form and the tips curl.
  6. Combine Chocolate and Cream:

    • Gently fold the cooled chocolate mixture into the whipped cream until evenly incorporated. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream.
  7. Assemble the Charlotte:

    • Spoon the chocolate and cream mixture into the ladyfinger-lined dish, spreading it evenly to cover the base.
    • Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until the charlotte is set and firm.
  8. Serve and Garnish:

    • To serve, carefully invert the dish onto a serving platter and unmold the chocolate charlotte.
    • Remove the plastic wrap gently.
    • Garnish the top of the charlotte with additional whipped cream and shaved chocolate for an elegant finishing touch.
