Instructions:

  1. Begin by whisking egg yolks in a medium saucepan until thick and lemon-colored.
  2. Gradually add sugar, continuing to whisk for 1-2 minutes until the mixture achieves the desired consistency.
  3. Blend in whole milk, whipping cream, and cornstarch, creating a smooth mixture.
  4. Cook the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens (3-5 minutes). Avoid boiling to prevent separation.
  5. Remove from heat, let it cool slightly, and then stir in vanilla and nutmeg.
