This delightful Hershey’s Bar Cake has been a cherished recipe in our family for years. Originally baked by my mom, I eventually took over the tradition in the kitchen. It’s become a staple at our gatherings, and everyone looks forward to its rich, chocolatey goodness. While it takes a bit of time and effort, the decadent result is absolutely worth it!

Ingredients
- 8-9 Hershey’s chocolate bars
- 1 cup margarine
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a tube pan to prepare it for the cake batter.
-
Melt the Hershey’s chocolate bars using a double boiler or microwave, stirring until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
-
In a small bowl, dissolve the baking soda in the buttermilk and set aside.
-
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the melted Hershey’s chocolate.
-
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
-
Gradually add the sifted flour alternately with the buttermilk mixture, beginning and ending with the flour.
-
Stir in the vanilla extract and chopped nuts, if using.
-
Pour the batter into the prepared tube pan, spreading it evenly.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
Cool the cake completely in the pan on a wire rack. Do not invert the pan.
-
Once cooled, carefully remove the cake from the pan and serve slices as desired.
This Mom’s Hershey’s Bar Cake is a true labor of love that’s perfect for any special occasion or family gathering. Its rich chocolate flavor and moist texture are sure to make it a favorite in your household too! Enjoy baking and sharing this delightful treat with your loved ones.
