Instructions:

Step Description
1 Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
2 In a small saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
3 Remove from heat and immediately beat in all-purpose flour with a wooden spoon. Continue beating until the mixture forms a ball.
4 Add one egg, beat until well blended. Then add the other egg and beat until the dough is shiny and satiny.
5 Drop rounded half-teaspoonfuls of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet, making 40 puffs.
6 Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until puffed and golden-brown.
7 Let the puffs cool completely on a wire rack.
8 Scoop vanilla, strawberry, and/or chocolate ice cream into 40 balls using a melon baller or a 1-teaspoon measuring spoon.
9 Store the ice cream balls in the freezer until ready to assemble.
10 Cut a slice from the top of each cooled puff.
11 Fill each puff with an ice cream ball and replace the top.
12 If not serving immediately, place filled puffs in the freezer.
13 For the chocolate sauce, dissolve sugar in 2 tablespoons of cream over boiling water.
14 Remove from heat and add the chopped chocolate. Stir until melted, then beat in the remaining cream.
15 Serve the chocolate sauce warm.

Presentation:
Mound the profiteroles in a serving dish, placing the sauce in a bowl or gravy boat for a charming self-serve experience. Accompany with whipped cream—plain, sweetened, or flavored with vanilla or cream. Alternatively, serve individual portions by arranging 5 puffs in each dessert dish. The key is to indulge in the sweet symphony of flavors while creating lasting memories.

Tips:

  • Allow people to serve themselves the sauce and whipped cream for a personalized touch.
  • Ensure not to leave the filled puffs in the freezer for too long to preserve their delightful texture.

This profiteroles recipe is a testament to the joy of homemade desserts, combining the warmth of family traditions with the decadence of indulgent treats. Share these golden-brown puffs of happiness with your loved ones, creating a sweet celebration to be remembered. 🌟✨
