Irresistible Chocolate Cake Recipe πŸ«πŸŽ‚

Description: This decadent chocolate cake recipe hails from the renowned Sampson Eagon Inn. While it requires a bit of effort, the end result is pure chocolate nirvana, making it absolutely worth the work! 🍰

  • Cook Time: 1 hour
  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Servings: 12

Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
2 cups Cocoa powder
1/2 cup Vanilla yogurt
1 cup Butter
1/2 – 1 Eggs
2 cups Cake flour
2 tsp Baking soda
1 tsp Salt
1/2 cup Kahlua
1/4 cup Unsalted butter
6 cups Heavy cream
10 oz Chocolate chips
1 cup Sugar
1 1/2 cups Chocolate for glaze

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Prepare cocoa mixture: In a bowl, blend together 1 cup of sugar, cocoa powder, and 1/2 cup of yogurt until smooth.

  3. Cream butter: In another bowl, cream together the butter and remaining 1 cup of sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Incorporate eggs: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, into the creamed butter mixture.

  5. Combine cocoa mixture: Gradually mix in the cocoa mixture into the butter mixture until well combined.

  6. Sift dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the cake flour, salt, and baking soda.

  7. Alternate additions: Add the sifted dry ingredients to the butter-cocoa mixture alternately with the remaining 1/2 cup of yogurt blended with Kahlua.

  8. Fold in chocolate chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

  9. Prepare pan: Butter a 10-inch springform tube pan and dust it with cocoa powder.

  10. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for approximately one hour, or until a tester comes out clean when inserted into the center of the cake.

  11. Cool: Allow the cake to cool on a rack before removing it from the pan.

  12. Prepare the Glaze:

    • Break the chocolate into small pieces.
    • Place a double boiler over, not in, a pan of hot water.
    • Add the chocolate, cream, butter, and Kahlua to the double boiler.
    • Cover tightly and heat for a few minutes, stirring until completely melted and smooth.
    • Transfer the melted chocolate mixture to a stainless steel bowl and cover. Keep it at room temperature.
  13. Glaze the cake: Slowly pour about half of the prepared glaze over the cooled cake, spreading it evenly with a metal spatula over the top, sides, and in the center.

  14. Refrigerate: Place the cake in the refrigerator until the glaze is firm.

  15. Apply second layer of glaze: Once the first layer of glaze has set, repeat the process with the remaining glaze.

  16. Decorate: Decorate the cake with piped buttercream chocolate frosting in an interesting shape. Top each decoration with a chocolate coffee bean or a pecan/walnut half. Alternatively, you can accent the cake with fresh flowers in the center and around the sides.

  17. Serve: For the best flavor, allow the cake to rest overnight before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld together beautifully, resulting in an even more irresistible chocolate experience.

Enjoy this indulgent treat with your loved ones, and savor every rich and decadent bite! πŸŽ‰
