  • 5 – 6 tablespoons milk
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 box of cake mix
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 ripe pears
  • 2/3 cup butterscotch topping

Instructions:

Step Description Time
1 Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). 5 minutes
2 Spray a 9″ or 10″ springform pan with Pam or non-stick spray. 2 minutes
3 In a small saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips. Heat over medium-low heat until the chocolate is melted, stirring occasionally. 5 minutes
4 In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, cinnamon, and vegetable oil until crumbly. 3 minutes
5 Place the ripe pears in a blender and blend until smooth. 2 minutes
6 In another large bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups of the cake mix mixture, the blended pears, and eggs. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until moistened, then increase to medium speed for 2 minutes. 5 minutes
7 Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan. 2 minutes
8 Drop spoonfuls of the chocolate chip mixture over the batter. 2 minutes
9 Stir the pecans and water into the remaining cake mix mixture until well blended, then sprinkle over the batter. 3 minutes
10 Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top of the torte springs back lightly when touched in the center. Be careful not to overbake, as the cake will become dry. 45-50 minutes
11 Allow the torte to cool for 10 minutes, then remove the side of the springform pan and continue cooling. 10 minutes
12 In a saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the butterscotch topping and milk. Heat for 3-4 minutes or until well blended, stirring occasionally. 4 minutes
13 To serve, spoon about 2 tablespoons of the warm sauce onto a plate and top with a wedge of the torte. 5 minutes
