Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F). Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a flat surface, then use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out 24 hearts. Leave 8 hearts whole, and for the remaining 16, use a smaller heart-shaped cutter to make a cutout in the center of each.

Layer the cutout hearts on top of the whole hearts, ensuring the edges stick together by gently pressing them. For an even better seal, lightly brush the top of each layer with a bit of beaten egg.

Brush the top layer of pastry with egg wash to ensure a golden, shiny finish. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown and fully cooked. Once done, remove from the oven and let the hearts cool on a wire rack.
