Instructions
-
Prepare the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready once the croissants are assembled. -
Unroll and Arrange Dough
Open the tube of croissant dough, carefully unroll it, and place each individual piece of dough on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Spread them out to prevent sticking or overlapping. -
Add the Pizza Sauce
Spread about one tablespoon of pizza sauce on each triangle of dough, focusing on an even layer, but leaving a bit of a border around the edges to prevent the sauce from spilling out. -
Prepare the Filling
Take half of a mozzarella string cheese stick and place it along the wide end of the croissant dough triangle. Place a sausage (or any alternative filling you prefer) next to the cheese. If the cheese sticks out beyond the dough edges, trim the excess. -
Roll Up the Croissants
Starting at the wide end where the filling is, gently roll each croissant towards the narrow end, encasing the filling securely. Take care to keep the cheese and sausage fully enclosed to prevent excess melting out during baking. -
Bake to Perfection
Place the cookie sheet in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 15 minutes or until the dough is golden and fully cooked through. Keep an eye on the cheese – avoid over-baking to prevent it from melting excessively and spilling out of the croissants. -
Serve Warm and Enjoy
Allow the croissants to cool slightly before serving. They’re best enjoyed warm while the cheese is still gooey and delicious.
Tips
- Alternative Fillings: Feel free to experiment with pepperoni slices, mushrooms, or bell peppers for a different flavor twist.
- Serve with Dipping Sauce: These croissants go wonderfully with a side of marinara or ranch for extra flavor.
