Total Time: 45 minutes

Servings: 8
Yield: 1 large loaf

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bread:

    • Slice the loaf, leaving the crust intact, into slices. It is important not to slice through the bottom. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Butter Mixture:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the butter, minced garlic, grated Parmesan cheese, dried basil, and dried oregano. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
    • Allow the butter mixture to sit on the counter for a while, so the flavors can travel all through the butter.
  3. Assemble the Garlic Bread:

    • Take a length of foil and place the loaf lengthwise on the foil.
    • Very gently, spread the slices apart, being careful not to break the bottom, and spread them with the butter mixture.
    • Once all slices are spread, use any leftover butter to spread the top of the loaf.
  4. Bake the Garlic Bread:

    • Wrap the sides of the foil up, leaving the top uncovered.
    • Twist the ends of the foil to secure the loaf.
    • Place the foil-wrapped loaf on a baking tray.
    • Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden and crispy.
  5. Serve and Enjoy:

    • Garlic bread pairs perfectly with spaghetti or lasagna.
    • If you’re baking lasagna, simply put the garlic bread in the oven with the lasagna for the last half hour of baking time.

Tips:

  • For added flavor, you can sprinkle some extra grated Parmesan cheese on top of the buttered loaf before baking.
  • Experiment with different herbs and spices in the butter mixture to customize the flavor to your liking.
  • Make sure to spread the butter mixture evenly on each slice of bread for consistent flavor throughout.
