Ingredients:

  • 1 medium-sized fish, chopped into pieces
  • 4 onions
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1-inch ginger
  • 1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves
  • 10-12 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 6 cumin seeds
  • 1 turmeric powder
  • 1 red chilies
  • 6 tomatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fish:

    • Chop the fish into medium-sized pieces and set aside.
  2. Prepare Ginger-Garlic Paste:

    • In a mixer or blender, combine garlic, ginger, and fresh coriander leaves to make a smooth paste.
  3. Marinate the Fish:

    • Coat the fish pieces with the ginger-garlic-coriander paste, turmeric powder, and let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  4. Prepare Spice Paste:

    • In the same mixer or blender, make a paste of cloves, cinnamon stick, black peppercorns, cumin seeds, red chilies, and coriander seeds. Set aside.
  5. Cooking Process:

    • Heat oil in a skillet or frying pan.
    • Add chopped onions and sautรฉ until they turn soft and translucent.
    • Incorporate chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and the oil starts to separate.
    • Now, add the prepared spice paste (cinnamon-clove paste) and fry for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  6. Add Fish and Coconut Milk:

    • Carefully place the marinated fish pieces into the skillet.
    • Pour in the coconut milk, ensuring the fish is well-coated with the flavorful sauce.
  7. Simmer:

    • Cover the skillet and let the fish simmer in the coconut milk gravy over low heat for approximately 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse into the fish.
  8. Garnish and Serve:

    • Once the fish is cooked through and the sauce has thickened to your liking, garnish with fresh coriander leaves for a burst of color and flavor.
