Spicy Shredded Beef (Daging Sapi Suwir Pedas)
Ingredients:
- 1/4 kg beef (cut into small pieces)
- 1 lime (juiced)
- 3 tablespoons cooking oil
- 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
- For the Spice Paste:
- 5 small chili peppers (cabe rawit)
- 2 large red chili peppers
- 3 cloves garlic
- Shrimp paste (terasi), to taste
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- Salt, to taste

Begin by cutting the beef into small pieces. Place the pieces in a pot and simmer until tender, allowing the meat to become soft and easily shreddable.

While the beef is cooking, prepare the spice paste. Blend together the small chili peppers, large red chili peppers, garlic cloves, and shrimp paste until smooth.

Once the beef is tender, use a mortar and pestle to lightly pound the cooked meat until flattened. This step makes the beef easier to shred.

Shred the flattened beef into thin strips. Mix the shredded beef with the prepared spice paste, adding lime juice, ground pepper, and granulated sugar. Adjust salt to taste.

Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the spiced shredded beef and continue to stir-fry until the beef is browned and the flavors are well combined.
