Spicy Beef Teriyaki Recipe
Ingredients:
- 200 grams of fresh beef (diced)
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 2 shallots
- 1 onion
- 1 bunch of spring onions
- 100 grams of green beans (cut into 3 cm pieces)
- 100 grams of shiitake mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons BBQ sauce
- 3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
- 3 tablespoons black pepper (2 tablespoons for the meat, 1 tablespoon for the vegetables)
- 1/2 tablespoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- Bird’s eye chili (crushed)
- Water
For extra heat: Adjust the amount of black pepper and chili to taste. Use a 2:1 ratio (when boiling meat versus when adding vegetables).
Instructions:
-
Heat the Butter: In a large pan or wok, melt the butter over medium heat.
-
Sauté Aromatics: Add the garlic and shallots to the pan. Sauté until fragrant, taking care not to burn them.
-
Cook the Beef: Add the diced beef to the pan. Season with 1/2 tablespoon of salt and cook until the meat is browned on all sides.
-
Add Sauces: Stir in the BBQ sauce and pour in hot water. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 10 minutes.
-
Incorporate Soy and Teriyaki Sauces: Add the soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, and 2 tablespoons of black pepper to the beef mixture.
-
Spice it Up: Add the crushed bird’s eye chili according to your spice preference. Stir in the sesame oil and tomato sauce.
-
Sweeten and Simmer: Mix in the sugar and a small amount of water if necessary to reach your desired consistency. Cover the pan and let it cook until the liquid reduces and the beef becomes tender.
-
Add Vegetables: Once the liquid has reduced, check the beef’s tenderness. Add the onion, spring onions, green beans, and shiitake mushrooms. Sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of black pepper.
-
Finish Cooking: Stir the vegetables and beef together, cooking until the vegetables are tender and everything is well combined.
-
Adjust Spice Levels: If you prefer additional heat, add more crushed chili and black pepper to taste.
-
Serve: Once the dish is cooked through and flavorful, serve hot over rice or noodles.
