Step Description
1 Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized cubes. Toss the chicken with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of sherry wine. Set aside.
2 In a small bowl, whisk together the sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, water, 1 tablespoon of sherry wine, remaining soy sauce, and cornstarch until well combined. Set aside.
3 Heat peanut oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add the split chiles and cook until they start turning dark in color.
4 Add the garlic, ginger slices, and red pepper flakes to the wok. Cook for about 30 seconds or until aromatic.
5 Add the marinated chicken cubes to the wok, stirring constantly for 1-2 minutes until they start to brown.
6 Pour in the soy sauce mixture and add the sliced red bell peppers. Continue cooking until the chicken is just cooked through, about 1 more minute.
7 Remove the wok from the heat. For a stronger flavor, toss the Kung Pao Chicken with 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons of Szechuan sauce.
8 Serve hot and enjoy the explosion of flavors in every bite!

Tips:

  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes according to your spice preference.
  • For a gluten-free option, use tamari sauce instead of soy sauce.
  • Feel free to add your favorite vegetables like broccoli, carrots, or snap peas for extra color and nutrients.
  • Serve Kung Pao Chicken with steamed rice or noodles for a satisfying meal.
