Instructions:

  1. With a pastry blender, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and chilled Crisco shortening until the mixture resembles coarse meal.

  2. In a small bowl, mix the egg, white vinegar, and milk.

  3. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and mix only until the dough holds together in a ball.

  4. Refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour.

  5. Roll out the dough on floured wax paper or a pastry cloth until it’s about 1/8 inch thick.

  6. Gently transfer the rolled-out dough onto a lightly greased pie plate.

  7. Trim the excess dough, leaving about a 1-inch overhang, and flute the edges.

  8. To bake the crust, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Prick the bottom of the crust all over with a fork to prevent air bubbles from forming.

  9. Bake the crust for 11 minutes or until it’s lightly golden brown.

  10. Allow the crust to cool before filling it with your favorite pie filling.

Tips:

  • For an extra-flaky crust, make sure your ingredients are cold and handle the dough as little as possible.
  • If you’re making a fruit pie, sprinkle the bottom of the crust with a little flour to absorb excess juices and prevent a soggy bottom.
  • This pie crust freezes well, so you can make a double batch and save one for later use.

Enjoy crafting beautiful pies with this tried-and-true pie crust recipe! 🌟
