Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1/2 cup Milk
2 cups Yogurt
1/4 cup Eggs
2 tsp Salt
1 cup Bread Flour
4 1/2 tsp Bread Machine Yeast

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough: Add all ingredients to the bread pan according to the manufacturer’s directions.

  2. Set Bread Machine: Set the cycle to “dough” and choose a loaf size of 2 lb.

  3. Adjust Dough Consistency: After about 5 minutes, check the dough. If it’s too dry, add a tablespoon of water at a time. If it’s too wet, add a tablespoon of flour at a time until you reach the desired consistency.

  4. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place 2 baking sheets inside to heat for 10 minutes. This will help the naan to puff up and brown evenly.

  5. Divide Dough: When the dough cycle is complete, turn the dough onto a floured surface and punch it down. Divide it into 8 equal pieces.

  6. Roll Out Dough: Working with one piece at a time and keeping the rest covered, roll each portion of dough out to a thickness of about 1/4 inch.

  7. Bake Naan: Place the rolled-out dough onto the preheated baking sheets and bake for about 4 minutes, or until the naan is puffed up and lightly browned.

  8. Broil the Tops: After baking, briefly broil the tops of the naan until they achieve a golden brown color.

  9. Keep Warm: Remove the naan from the oven and immediately wrap them in a towel to keep warm while you cook the remaining naan.

  10. Serve or Freeze: Enjoy the warm naan with your favorite dishes! These naan freeze very well, so you can store any leftovers for later enjoyment.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize your naan by adding garlic, cilantro, or other herbs and spices to the dough.
  • You can use whole wheat flour instead of white flour for a healthier twist.
  • Ensure that the baking sheets are hot before placing the naan on them to achieve the perfect puffiness and browning.
  • If you don’t have a bread machine, you can still make this recipe by kneading the dough by hand and allowing it to rise in a warm place before proceeding with the instructions.
