Ingredients:

  • 1 Golden Delicious apple
  • 4-5 Apples (depending on size)
  • 1 Lemon (juiced)
  • 3 tbsp Granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup Apricot jam (for glaze)

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
2. Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. Toss them with lemon juice to prevent browning.
3. On a floured surface, roll out your favorite tart pastry to a 1/8-inch thick rectangle. This should fit a standard baking sheet. Carefully transfer the pastry to the baking sheet.
4. Arrange the apple slices on the pastry, overlapping them in three long rows. Leave about a 1-inch border of pastry all around the apples. The slices should be close enough to almost stand upright.
5. Fold the 1-inch border of pastry up and slightly over the apples, creating a rustic edge. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar evenly over the apples and pastry edge.
6. Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
7. Remove the tart from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 tablespoon of sugar over the top. This will add a lovely sweetness and crunch.
8. In a small bowl, melt the apricot jam in the microwave until it’s smooth and runny. Brush this glaze over the warm tart for a beautiful shine and added flavor.
9. Allow the tart to cool slightly before serving. This tart is delicious warm, served with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
