Description:

Indulge in the velvety goodness of this One Ingredient Soft Caramel, a delightful treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk

Directions:

  1. Oven Method:

    • Preheat your oven to 425ยฐF (220ยฐC).
    • Pour the entire contents of one can of Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk into a 9-inch pie plate.
    • Cover the pie plate with aluminum foil, ensuring it’s sealed tightly.
    • Place the covered pie plate into a larger shallow pan.
    • Carefully fill the larger pan with hot water, ensuring the water level is below the top of the pie plate.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 1 1/2 hours or until the mixture is thick and caramel colored.
    • Once done, remove from the oven and allow it to cool before serving.
  2. Stovetop Method:

    • Set up a double boiler by filling a saucepan with water and bringing it to a boil.
    • Place the can of Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk into the top of the double boiler, ensuring it’s submerged in the boiling water.
    • Reduce the heat to low and let the milk simmer gently for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and turns a rich caramel color.
    • Once thickened, remove the can from the heat and allow it to cool before using or storing.
  3. Microwave Method:

    • Pour the entire contents of one can of Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk into a 2-quart glass measuring cup.
    • Cook on 50% power (medium) for 4 minutes, stirring briskly every 2 minutes until the mixture is smooth.
    • Reduce the power to 30% (medium-low) and continue cooking for 20 to 26 minutes, stirring briskly every 4 minutes during the first 16 minutes and every 2 minutes during the last 4 to 10 minutes, or until the caramel is very thick and golden brown.
    • Exercise caution while handling hot contents.
    • Once cooked, allow the caramel to cool before serving.

CAUTION:

  • Never heat unopened cans as this could lead to an explosion.
  • Ensure the water level remains below the top of the can during cooking to prevent accidents.
