- Prepare a 13 x 9-inch pyrex baking pan by greasing with butter and dusting with flour.

- Remove the cinnamon stick and add brandy to the syrup.
- Pour the hot syrup over the cooled cake.
- Allow the cake to cool completely before cutting it into squares.
