Salmon Cakes Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound pink salmon, bones and skin removed
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise

  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cracker crumbs
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Salmon: Start by removing the bones and skin from the salmon. Using a fork, flake the salmon into small pieces, then set aside.

  2. Sauté Onion: In a small sauté pan or skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until it becomes tender. Transfer the sautéed onion to a bowl and allow it to cool slightly.

  3. Prepare Mixture: Add the egg to the bowl with the cooled onion and beat with a wire whisk until well incorporated. Next, whisk in the mustard, mayonnaise, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, dried dill, black pepper, salt, Tabasco sauce, and cracker crumbs.   5. Form Patties: Using a 1/3 cup measure, scoop out portions of the mixture and form them into 2-inch patties. Dust each patty lightly with flour, coating both sides.

  6. Fry the Cakes: Heat 1/2 cup of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the salmon cakes in the skillet in batches. Fry each batch for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
