Instructions:
-
Prepare the Rice:
- Wash the rice thoroughly several times, then soak it in water for about 30 minutes.
-
Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to a very high temperature of 500°F (260°C). Adjust if your oven tends to be less powerful.
-
Prepare the Pot:
- Grease a large, tall oven pot with butter, ensuring to coat the bottom and sides generously.
- Place the remaining butter in the pot and allow it to melt completely in the preheated oven.
-
Prepare the Rice Mixture:
- Drain the soaked rice and transfer it to a mixing bowl.
- Add salt and pepper to the rice, stirring well to combine.
-
Layering in the Pot:
- Transfer the seasoned rice into the greased oven pot, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
- Pour the milk over the rice, ensuring it’s completely submerged.
-
Cooking Process:
- Place the pot in the hot oven and cook at 500°F (260°C) for approximately 15 minutes, or until the mixture starts to boil.
- Reduce the oven temperature to 300°F (150°C) and continue cooking for another 25 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked.
- Check the rice’s doneness by inserting a knife into the center; if it comes out clean, the rice is cooked. If not, continue cooking, checking every 5 minutes.
-
Optional Addition:
- While the rice is cooking, you can boil small pieces of lamb or chicken separately. Add them to the rice before cooking for an extra flavor boost.
-
Serving:
- Once cooked, Tagen Ros Mo-amar can be enjoyed hot or cold.
- For a delicious serving suggestion, heat the dish before serving and accompany it with a fresh tomato and cucumber salad.
