Ingredients:
Quantity | Ingredient |
---|---|
3 tbsp | Butter |
3 tbsp | Margarine |
3 | Onions |
2 tbsp | Flour |
1/2 cup | Milk |
1/2 cup | Non-dairy milk substitute |
1 lb | Turkey |
1 tsp | Paprika |
1 tsp | Tabasco sauce |
1/2 tsp | Black pepper |
1 tbsp | Sherry wine |
1 tbsp | Marsala |
1 tsp | Vanilla |
Instructions:
-
In your favorite skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
-
Add the onions to the skillet and sauté them until they are translucent, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes.
-
Meanwhile, in a separate microwave-safe bowl, heat the milk until it’s hot but not boiling, for about 1-2 minutes.
-
Once the onions are translucent, sprinkle the flour over them and stir well to combine, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes to cook out the raw flour taste.
-
Slowly pour the hot milk into the skillet with the onions and flour mixture, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming, and continue cooking until the mixture thickens up, for about 3-5 minutes.
-
When the mixture has thickened, add in the cooked turkey, paprika, Tabasco sauce, black pepper, sherry wine, and marsala, stirring well to combine.
-
Allow the mixture to heat through, stirring occasionally, for an additional 3-5 minutes, until the turkey is heated through and the flavors have melded together.
-
Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more salt or pepper as desired.
-
Serve the SOS hot over toast or toasted English muffins for a delicious and comforting breakfast or light dinner option. Enjoy!
