🥖 Recipe Yield: 1 loaf of Italian Flat Bread

Description: This Focaccia bread recipe is incredibly versatile and perfect for any occasion, especially in the summertime. Serve it quartered and sliced horizontally, then fill it with barbecued chicken thighs, lettuce, sliced red onions, tomatoes, avocado, and a drizzle of Paul Newman’s Own Ranch Dressing for a truly divine experience!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp dried yeast
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp rosemary
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 1/2 cups water

Instructions:

  1. Place all of the above ingredients, accurately measured and in the order listed, into the Bread Machine.

  2. Select the ‘dough’ cycle and let the machine work its magic.

  3. Once the cycle is complete, remove the dough from the Bread Machine and transfer it to a lightly floured surface.

  4. Gently knead the dough for about 10 minutes, adding extra flour if necessary to prevent sticking.

  5. Place the Focaccia dough in a well-greased bowl, cover it, and leave it to rise in a warm, draught-free place for approximately 30 minutes.

  6. After the dough has risen, knead it lightly in the bowl for about 1 minute.

  7. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a rectangular shape measuring about 20 cm x 30 cm.

  8. Transfer the rolled dough onto a well-greased baking tray or sponge roll tin.

  9. Leave the dough to rise again in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

  10. Preheat your oven to 225°C (approximately 435°F).

  11. Pour and smooth over 1 tablespoon of olive oil onto the risen dough.

  12. Using your fingers, create indentations at intervals over the surface of the dough.

  13. Sprinkle liberally with rock salt or a mixture of olive oil and Basil pesto combined with grated Parmesan or Romano cheese.

  14. Top the dough with chopped sun-dried tomatoes and sliced black olives for an extra burst of flavor.

  15. Bake the Focaccia in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes or until golden brown and beautifully fragrant.

  16. Once baked, remove the Focaccia from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before slicing and serving.

  17. Enjoy your homemade Focaccia bread with your favorite toppings or as a delightful accompaniment to soups, salads, or grilled dishes.

Bon appétit! 🥖🌿🍅
