Step | Description |
---|---|
1 | Cook the Bacon: In a skillet, cook the bacon until crisp. Once done, drain the excess fat and set the bacon aside. |
2 | Prepare the Salt Pork: In the same skillet, brown the salt pork. Like the bacon, drain any excess fat and set the pork aside, keeping it warm until ready to use. |
3 | Cook the Spaghetti: While the meats are cooking, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente, according to the package instructions. |
4 | Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a separate pan, melt the butter over low heat. Allow it to cool slightly, then add the well-beaten eggs to the melted butter. Mix well. |
5 | Combine Ingredients: Once the spaghetti is cooked, drain it and return it to the pot. Add the egg and butter mixture to the spaghetti, stirring gently to coat the noodles. Cook slowly until the eggs are set. |
6 | Add Meat and Cheese: Incorporate the cooked bacon, salt pork, and grated Parmesan cheese into the spaghetti mixture. Stir vigorously to combine all the flavors. |
7 | Serve: Transfer the Sicilian Spaghetti to serving plates and garnish with extra Parmesan cheese, if desired. Serve hot and enjoy! |
Tips:
- For added flavor, consider adding some crushed red pepper flakes or freshly ground black pepper to the spaghetti before serving.
- If you prefer a lighter version, you can use turkey bacon or reduce the amount of butter and cheese in the recipe.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Simply reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop before serving.
