Kakap Goreng Bumbu Kuning

Ingredients:

  • 2 whole snapper (ikan kakap), cut into three pieces, cleaned
  • Spice Blend:
    • 2 cm fresh turmeric (kunyit)
    • 1 cm ginger (jahe)
    • 1 cm galangal (lengkuas)
    • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds (ketumbar)
    • 3 cloves garlic (bawang putih)
    • 4 shallots (bawang merah)
    • Salt, to taste
    • Water, as needed for blending spices
  • Cooking oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Spice Blend:
Begin by blending the turmeric, ginger, galangal, coriander seeds, garlic, and shallots with a little water until you achieve a smooth paste. This aromatic mixture will infuse your fish with rich flavors.

  2. Marinate the Fish:
Place the cleaned snapper pieces in a tupperware or a bowl, and pour the blended spice mixture over them. Ensure each piece is well-coated. Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for approximately 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate the fish.

  3. Fry the Fish:
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the marinated fish pieces, frying them until they turn golden brown and crispy. This step not only adds texture but also enhances the overall taste of the dish.

  4. Serve:
Once the fish is cooked, remove it from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot, accompanied by sambal (spicy chili sauce) and your choice of sautéed vegetables or fresh salad for a delightful meal.

Enjoy your Kakap Goreng Bumbu Kuning, a deliciously seasoned fried snapper that’s sure to impress your family and friends!
