Yellow Spiced Grilled Chicken Wings

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams chicken wings
  • 10 grams turmeric (fresh or powdered)
  • 2 kaffir lime leaves
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 stalks lemongrass
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon chicken seasoning powder (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Begin by cleaning the chicken wings thoroughly under cold water, then set them aside to drain. Meanwhile, clean the spices and other ingredients.

  2. Make the Spice Paste: Blend the garlic, turmeric, coriander seeds, and ground black pepper together until you achieve a smooth paste. If you are using fresh turmeric, peel and chop it before blending. The lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves are not blended but will be used whole.

  3. Marinate the Chicken: Combine the spice paste with the chicken wings, ensuring that the mixture evenly coats all pieces. Add the kaffir lime leaves and lemongrass to the chicken. For the best results, let the chicken marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. This allows the flavors to penetrate the meat thoroughly.

  4. Cook the Chicken: Heat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Add a little water and cooking oil to the pan, then arrange the marinated chicken wings in a single layer. Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low heat for about 40 minutes. This method allows the chicken to cook gently, becoming tender and flavorful.
