Title: Simple Indonesian Spiced Chicken (Ayam Ukep Bumbu Sederhana)
Ingredients:
- 1 kg broiler chicken
- 8 cloves of large garlic
- 1 tbsp coriander seeds
- Turmeric
- Salt
- Sugar
- Water
Instructions:
-
Rinse the chicken thoroughly. Optionally, you can rub it with lime juice to remove any unpleasant odor, but if you don’t have lime juice on hand, it’s still fine.
-
Grind together the garlic, turmeric, and coriander seeds into a smooth paste.
-
Heat a pan and pour in water. Bring it to a simmer. Add half of the spice paste, adjusting the amount of sugar and salt to your taste. Place the chicken into the pan and continue with the remaining spice paste.
-
Cover the pan. After 5 minutes, mix the chicken well with the spices. Cover again and let it cook until fully done.
-
If not frying immediately, you can store the chicken in a covered container. Allow it to cool completely before refrigerating.
-
Serve the chicken either as it is or proceed to fry it until golden brown.
This dish of Indonesian spiced chicken offers a delightful blend of garlic, turmeric, and coriander, creating a flavorful profile that’s perfect for any occasion. Enjoy it with steamed rice or alongside your favorite vegetables for a complete meal.
