Ingredients:
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Puff Pastry | 230g |
Gorgonzola | 250g |
Mortadella | 350g |
Walnut Halves | 70g |
Whole Milk | As needed |
Egg Yolks | 1 |
Instructions:
To prepare the Puff Pastry Spiral with Mortadella and Gorgonzola, start by cutting the mortadella into small cubes. Next, take the pre-rolled puff pastry and, using a pastry wheel, cut it lengthwise into four equal rectangles.
Now it’s time to fill the pastry: evenly distribute pieces of gorgonzola on each rectangle, then add the walnut halves that have been roughly chopped. Leave about a 1 cm border on both long sides of the rectangles to prevent the filling from spilling out.
Fold each rectangle over on itself, creating a neat roll. Repeat this process for all the pastry pieces.
Once all the rolls are formed, line a 24 cm round baking pan with parchment paper. Begin by spiraling the first roll into the center of the pan. Continue adding the subsequent rolls, ensuring that the ends of each piece connect properly as you go.
With the spiral shape formed, brush the surface of the pastry with a mixture of egg yolk and milk to give it a golden, glossy finish.
Baking:
Place the pan in a preheated oven and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25-30 minutes or until golden and crispy.
Serve warm and enjoy the irresistible combination of creamy gorgonzola, savory mortadella, and crunchy walnuts wrapped in flaky puff pastry.
