Grilled Fresh Fish “Hepikoooll” 😄 #TeachKidsToLoveSeafood
Ingredients:
- 1/2 kg fresh ocean fish (choose varieties like mackerel, pomfret, and more 😁)
- 5 shallots, roughly chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, roughly chopped
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 segment of galangal, roughly chopped
- 1 segment of ginger, roughly chopped
- 1 tsp coarsely ground coriander
- Salt, to taste
- Sugar, to taste
For the Grilling Marinade:
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 7 tbsp sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
Steps:
-
Prepare the Fish: Begin by boiling the fish. In a pot, bring water to a boil and add shallots, garlic, bay leaves, galangal, ginger, coriander, salt, and sugar. Carefully add the cleaned fish to the boiling water. Simmer over low heat until the liquid reduces slightly.
-
Drain the Fish: Once cooked, drain the boiled fish and set it aside.
-
Prepare the Grill: Get your “hepikoooll” (grill) ready over low heat.
-
Marinate and Grill: Brush the boiled fish with the grilling marinade mixture. Place the fish on the grill and cook, flipping occasionally and brushing with more marinade, until both sides are golden brown.
-
Serve: Once grilled to perfection, your “hepikoooll” fish is ready! Serve it with fresh sambal, crisp vegetables, fluffy rice, and crunchy crackers. Enjoy the delightful flavors and happy faces around the table! 🤤🤤
