Ingredients:

  • 36 cubes of pork
  • 12 cherry tomatoes
  • 2-3 onions
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 bunch parsley
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Oregano

Instructions:

Step Description
1 Cut the pork into small cubes. Place it in a bowl with salt, pepper, oregano, and olive oil.
2 Lift the seasoned pork cubes out and thread them onto small wooden skewers.
3 Cook the skewered pork under a hot grill, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through, about 7 minutes per side.
4 While the pork is grilling, heat the “pita” bread in a skillet or oven until warm and lightly toasted.
5 Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the skewers and place an appropriate amount onto each warmed “pita” bread. Add sliced onions, cherry tomatoes, and parsley on top. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Optionally, add a dollop of tzatziki sauce for extra flavor.
6 Serve the souvlaki warm on individual plates.
7 Optional: Pork can be replaced with beef, lamb, or chicken for variation.
8 Optional: If you prefer, skip the pita bread and serve the grilled meat on a plate with rice, French fries, onions, tomatoes, and parsley.

Tips and Variations:

  • For a healthier option, use lean cuts of meat such as pork loin or chicken breast.
  • Experiment with different marinades or spice blends to customize the flavor of your souvlaki.
  • Serve with a side of Greek salad or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
  • To make tzatziki sauce at home, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, and dill.
  • If you’re short on time, you can use store-bought tzatziki sauce and pita bread for convenience.
  • Souvlaki is perfect for outdoor grilling, so fire up the barbecue for a Greek-inspired cookout with friends and family.

Enjoy your delicious homemade souvlaki! ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ
