Beef Steak with Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients:

For the Beef:

  • 250 grams of sirloin steak

Marinade:

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Salt, to taste
  • Barbecue sauce (I use Del Monte brand)

For the Mushroom Sauce:

  • ½ small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed and finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons canned mushrooms, pureed
  • Water, as needed
  • Bouillon powder, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon palm sugar
  • Salt, to taste
  • Cornstarch, for thickening

For Serving:

  • French fries
  • Steamed carrots
  • Steamed green beans

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Beef:

    • Rub the sirloin steak with minced garlic, black pepper, salt, and a generous amount of barbecue sauce. Let the steak marinate for 1-2 hours in the refrigerator to absorb the flavors.
  2. Grill the Steak:

    • Preheat a grill pan with ridges over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and grill each side for about 5 minutes, or until grill marks appear and the steak reaches your desired level of doneness.
  3. Bake the Steak:

    • Transfer the grilled steak to an oven preheated to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 8-10 minutes for medium-rare, or adjust the time to achieve your preferred doneness.
  4. Prepare the Mushroom Sauce:

    • In a saucepan, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat. Sauté the finely chopped onion and garlic until they become translucent.
    • Add the oyster sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and hoisin sauce. Stir well to combine.
    • Incorporate the pureed canned mushrooms and add a bit of water to reach your desired sauce consistency. Season with bouillon powder, palm sugar, and salt to taste.
    • To thicken the sauce, mix a small amount of cornstarch with water to create a slurry, then stir it into the sauce and cook until it thickens.
  5. Serve:

    • Slice the baked steak and drizzle with the mushroom sauce.
    • Serve alongside crispy French fries, steamed carrots, and green beans for a complete meal.
  6. Enjoy:

    • Your delicious Beef Steak with Mushroom Sauce is now ready to be enjoyed!
