Beef Steak with Mushroom Sauce
Ingredients:
For the Beef:
- 250 grams of sirloin steak
Marinade:
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Black pepper, to taste
- Salt, to taste
- Barbecue sauce (I use Del Monte brand)
For the Mushroom Sauce:
- ½ small onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, crushed and finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons canned mushrooms, pureed
- Water, as needed
- Bouillon powder, to taste
- 1 tablespoon palm sugar
- Salt, to taste
- Cornstarch, for thickening
For Serving:
- French fries
- Steamed carrots
- Steamed green beans

Marinate the Beef:
- Rub the sirloin steak with minced garlic, black pepper, salt, and a generous amount of barbecue sauce. Let the steak marinate for 1-2 hours in the refrigerator to absorb the flavors.

Grill the Steak:
- Preheat a grill pan with ridges over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and grill each side for about 5 minutes, or until grill marks appear and the steak reaches your desired level of doneness.

Bake the Steak:
- Transfer the grilled steak to an oven preheated to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 8-10 minutes for medium-rare, or adjust the time to achieve your preferred doneness.

Prepare the Mushroom Sauce:
- In a saucepan, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat. Sauté the finely chopped onion and garlic until they become translucent.
- Add the oyster sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and hoisin sauce. Stir well to combine.
- Incorporate the pureed canned mushrooms and add a bit of water to reach your desired sauce consistency. Season with bouillon powder, palm sugar, and salt to taste.
- To thicken the sauce, mix a small amount of cornstarch with water to create a slurry, then stir it into the sauce and cook until it thickens.

- Slice the baked steak and drizzle with the mushroom sauce.
- Serve alongside crispy French fries, steamed carrots, and green beans for a complete meal.
