Red Rice Dosa Recipe

Description:
Red Rice Dosa is a nutritious and flavorful South Indian dish made from red rice, ground into a smooth batter, and cooked into crispy dosas. This dish is perfect for a healthy breakfast and can be served with chutney and sambar for a complete meal.

Cuisine: South Indian
Course: Breakfast
Diet: Vegetarian

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup red rice
  • 1/2 cup white urad dal (split black gram)
  • 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • Salt, to taste
  • Water, as needed
  • Oil, as needed

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 2 hours

Instructions:

  1. Begin by thoroughly washing the red rice. Soak it in water for about 6 hours. After soaking, drain the water.
  2. In a separate bowl, soak the urad dal and fenugreek seeds for 6 hours.
  3. After soaking, place the urad dal and fenugreek mixture in a mixer grinder with a little water and grind to a smooth batter.
  4. In the same manner, grind the soaked red rice with a bit of water until smooth.
  5. Combine the ground red rice mixture with the urad dal batter. Add salt to taste and mix well.
  6. Allow the batter to ferment for 12 hours, ensuring it becomes airy and slightly bubbly.
  7. Once the batter is fermented, heat a non-stick pan or griddle. Pour the batter onto the pan and spread it into a circular shape.
  8. Drizzle oil around the edges and cook the dosa on both sides until it turns golden and crispy.
  9. Once cooked, remove the dosa from the pan and serve immediately.
