Fish Soup with Snapper (for Toddlers 1 Year+)

This soothing and nutritious fish soup with snapper is perfect for toddlers aged 1 year and up. The combination of fresh vegetables, tender fish fillet, and aromatic herbs creates a flavorful yet gentle dish that’s easy to eat and digest. The use of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) adds a healthy fat to support your little one’s growth. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients (for 1 serving):

Ingredient Amount
Snapper fish fillet 1 portion (about half the size of your palm), cut into pieces
Carrot 1 small, diced into small cubes
Tomato 1 small, diced into cubes
Potato 1/2 small, diced into cubes
Spring onion 1/4 stalk, sliced (optional)
Celery stalk 1 stalk, finely chopped
Ginger 1 finger-length piece, smashed
Cinnamon stick 1/2 pinky-sized piece
Cloves 4 whole cloves
Red onion 1 small, thinly sliced
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) 1 tsp
Salt To taste
Sugar To taste
For the spice paste:
Garlic 1 clove, minced

Steps:

  1. Prepare the spice paste:
Heat a small amount of oil in a pan and sauté the garlic with red onion until fragrant. Add the ginger, cinnamon stick, and cloves, allowing the aromatic spices to release their full flavor.

  2. Cook the soup base:
Add enough water to the pan to create a broth, and then add the snapper fish fillet, carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Let the mixture come to a boil and cook until the vegetables are tender and the fish is cooked through.

  3. Season the soup:
Once the ingredients are fully cooked, season with salt and sugar to taste. Stir well and adjust the seasoning if needed.

  4. Finish the dish:
Add the chopped spring onion and celery, and continue cooking for about 3 more minutes. Turn off the heat and let the soup cool slightly.

  5. Add EVOO:
Once the soup has cooled a bit, stir in the Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) to give the soup a rich, healthy finish.

  6. Serve:
Once the soup has cooled enough for your little one to eat, serve it up in a bowl. It’s now ready to be enjoyed by your toddler, packed with delicious flavors and nutrition!

This Snapper Fish Soup is a warm and wholesome dish that’s packed with nutrients your growing toddler needs. You can easily adjust the seasoning to your child’s taste, and the combination of vegetables and fish makes it a well-rounded meal. Enjoy!
