Cuisine: North Indian
Course: Snack
Diet: Vegetarian

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Sev (any variety of bhujia sev) 2 cups
Bhujia 1/2 cup
Onions (finely chopped) 1/2 cup
Tomatoes (finely chopped) 1/2 cup
Cucumber (finely chopped) 1/4 cup
Green Chilli (finely chopped) 1
Coriander (Dhania) Leaves (finely chopped) 2 tablespoons
Green Channa Sprouts (optional) 1/4 cup
Sweet Chutney (Date & Tamarind) 2 tablespoons
Green Chutney (Coriander & Mint) 1 tablespoon
Lemon Juice 1 teaspoon
Chaat Masala Powder 1/4 teaspoon
Salt and Pepper To taste

Preparation Time: 20 minutes

Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

Servings: 4

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
Begin by gathering all the ingredients. Take a large mixing bowl and add the finely chopped onions, tomatoes, cucumber, green chilli, coriander leaves, and green channa sprouts (if using). Mix these ingredients thoroughly.

  2. Add the Chutneys:
To the mixture, add the sweet chutney (date & tamarind) and green chutney (coriander & mint). These chutneys will bring a delightful sweetness and tanginess to the bhel. Stir the mixture gently to combine all the chutneys and vegetables evenly.

  3. Seasoning:
Squeeze in the lemon juice and sprinkle in the chaat masala powder. Add salt and pepper to taste. Give it a good mix to ensure the flavors meld together.

  4. Final Touch:
Just before serving, add the sev (bhujia) to the mixture to maintain its crunch. Stir the ingredients gently so the sev doesn’t break apart.

  5. Serve:
Serve the Sookha Bhujia Bhel immediately as a crispy, tangy, and mouth-watering snack. This can be paired wonderfully with a refreshing Papaya Banana Smoothie for kids or a tangy Red Wine Sangria Cocktail for adults during a party or gathering.

Tips:

  • Customize the Sprouts: You can add other sprouts like moong beans, alfalfa, or pea sprouts if you prefer more variety.
  • Adjust the Spices: If you like your bhel spicier, increase the amount of green chilli or add some red chilli powder.
  • Serve Fresh: To ensure the bhujia stays crunchy, add it only at the last moment before serving.
