Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 tbsp dried parsley (or 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped)
- 1 tsp dried basil (or 1 tbsp fresh basil, chopped)
- 8 cups water
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 cup pasta (such as shells, elbows, or any small pasta)
Instructions:
- 
Brown the Ground Beef: - In a Dutch oven or heavy stock pot, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
 
- 
Saute Onions and Green Pepper: - Add the chopped onion and green pepper to the pot with the browned beef. Saute for 5 to 10 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
 
- 
Add Beans and Tomatoes: - Stir in the kidney beans (drained and rinsed) and diced tomatoes.
 
- 
Season and Simmer: - Add the dried parsley, dried basil (or fresh if using), and 8 cups of water to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil.

Add Pasta: - Once boiling, add the pasta to the pot. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 to 20 minutes, or until the pasta is cooked through and tender.

Adjust Seasoning: - Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
